Tanyan Yahipi!

Welcome!

The purpose of South Dakota Positive Indian Parenting (PIP) Community is to create a supportive, collaborative, and culturally grounded space for PIP facilitators/trainers to learn, share, and grow together.

PIP is an 8 week course developed to honor and revitalize Indigenous parenting traditions that were disrupted by historical trauma, such as boarding schools and colonization. The trainer’s role is to create a respectful learning space, support participants’ cultural connections, and facilitate—not lead—the sharing of Indigenous knowledge. Sensitivity, humility, and collaboration with local Native communities are essential when guiding this program.
